  1. If you know about other cultures, you can understand the different parts of their culture. Seeing other people's cultures can help you value their unique customs, art and other elements of their way of life. By appreciating other cultures you can be less ethnocentric, and more tolerant.

  2. By learning about other cultures, you can start to understand what that culture is about. Once you understand a culture, you can start to appreciate it. When we start to enjoy things of other cultures, you probably won't feel the need to patronize other cultures. Therefor, we can start to tolerate other cultures.

  6. Knowledge of other cultures helps to promote tolerance because when you begin to understand why that person acts, dresses, and eats in a certain way their culture doesn't seem so unfamiliar. You stop comparing your culture to theirs, because their culture is familiar to you now. By better understanding a person's culture you are likely to become more tolerant of them.

By understanding the meaning for their actions you can see in perspective why that culture acts, dresses or eats a certain way. By seeing this you will probably become more tolerant of that culture and its customs

  8. if everyone followed the lived the same type of life , the world would most likely be chaotic. so you must accept that there are different approaches to almost everything you do. as they say, dont judge a book by its cover. this applies to cultures in every angle. you may look at indian food and find things you would be uncomfertable with but once you try it, your opinion would probably change. its better to be influenced of other cultures so your opinons can be truthful.

  12. Most of the time people feel aversion towards things they don't understand or aren't familiar with. It's a natural defense mechanism. Racism and the like would lessen if people could feel comfortable around the cultures confronting them. Also, it would be pointless to hate something you yourself practice, so the more diffused a culture, the more it is tolerated.
